Information about mouse
Definition:
A mouse is a pointing device that controls the movement of the cursor or pointer on a display screen. A mouse is a small object you can roll along a hard, flat surface. Its name is derived from its shape, which looks a bit like a mouse, As you move the mouse, the pointer on the display screen moves in the same direction.
History:
It was invented by Douglas Engelbart of Stanford Research Center in 1963. In those days, computers were large and expensive. Using them was very hard because everything had to be typed in by hand, and there was no way to alter things if you made a mistake.After studying and designing for a long time, Engelbart succeeded in inventing a pointing device.At first, it needed two hands to use, but it was changed so that only one hand was needed to use it. This model was more like the mouse that we use today.
Structure of mouse:
A basic structure of mouse is that there are two buttons on its upper surface. · Left button: This button is used to choose open a file , folder or any other thing in the pc.
· Right button: This button is used to see the properties of a folder or any other thing in the pc.
It also have a scrolling wheel.
· Scroll Wheel: This wheel is used to move the screen upwards and downwards. It is used to do “zoom in “ and “zoom out” the images in the pc.
Some mice have a ball or LED sensor on its lower surface to detect the movement of a mouse. Basically it looks like a rat. A mouse can have 1 to 6 buttons to click, but most mice have two or three.
Types of mouse:
There are basically two types of mouse:
· Mechanical mouse: Houses a hard rubber ball that rolls as the mouse is moved. Sensors inside the mouse body detect the movement and translate it into information that the computer interprets.
· Optical mouse: Uses an LED sensor to detect tabletop movement and then sends off that information to the computer for merry munching.

Uses of Mouse:
· The user can move the mouse to move the cursor in the same direction.
· The user can “click" the left mouse button to choose and open a file, folder or any other thing.
· The user can “click” the right mouse button to see the properties of a file, folder or any other thing.
· The user can easily perform the graphical tasks with the help of mouse.
· The user can drag a file or folder with the help of mouse.
