Information about Keyboard :
Definition:
A computer keyboard is an important device that allows a person to enter symbols like letters and numbers into a Computer. It is the main input device for most computers. It looks like a typewriter.
History:
It was invented by Christopher Latham in 1868. The invention of the modern computer keyboard began with the invention of the typewriter.

Structure of keyboard:
A keyboard consists of keys to enter data into the keyboard. There may be 101 to 106 keys on the keyboard. Basically the structure of keyboard is divided into four sections.
· Main Section:
This section is consists of numeric ,letters and punctuations. It is to enter alphabets, punctuations and numbers in the computer. This is the main and biggest section on the keyboard.
· Function Section:
This section is consists of functional keys as F1, F2 , F3.......F12. These keys are used to different functions on the computer. This section is located on the top of the keyboard. These are connected with operating system
· Numeric Section:
This section is consists of numbers and mathematical symbols .This section is mostly located on the right side of the keyboard.
· Control Section:This section is consists of various keys that are spread all over the keyboard. These keys are used to perform some technical tasks on the computer. Some of important keys are:
Esc: It is located on the top left of the keyboard. It is used to cancel the current operation on the pc.
Alt: It is used to make functional combinition with other keys to perform a specific task. i.e: Alt+F4 is used to turn of the pc or to close a window.
Ctrl: It is used to make user applicational combinition with other keyboard to perform a specific task.i. e: Ctrl+C is used to copy a thing.
Enter: It is used to enter a file or folder. It is also used to enter a new blank line in editors.
Tab: It is used to move from a field to next field. It is also used to move a specific space in editiors.
Caps Lock: This key is used to capitalize the letters.
Num Lock: This key is used to change the function of the numeric keys in the numeric section.
Scroll Lock: This key is used to lock the scrolling on the screen.
Prnt scr: It is used to get the print of the current screen of the pc.
Shift : It is used to select something. It is also used to make combination with other keyboard. By pressing this key user can perform the tasks of Caps Lock and Num Lock keys.
Arrow Keys: These keys are used to control the movement of cursor on the screen.
Del: This key is used to delete the selected item from the pc.
Home: It is used to go direct on the start of the current page.
Pg up/Pg down: These keys are used to move the current page up and down.
End: It is used to go direct at the end of the page.
Backspace: It is used to get back from the current page to the previous page. It is also used to delete letters in the editors.
Uses of keyboard:
· The user can enter letters, numbers and symbols to computer.
· It is used to perform some specific tasks..
· Programmers use keyboard for programming.
· It is used for gaming.
